The Pier and the Boulevard of Drwęckie Lake


The pier is in the shape of the letter "L", the arms measuring 50m and 30m, the width 8m and the cross-junction in the form of an octagon. Along with a number of cafes and pubs, the pier is the most frequently visited place in our town.

   

Do you know that: By the area of square meters, the pier in Ostróda is the largest inland object of its kind in Poland.

The Town Beach.


The town beach at Sajmino Lake is the most frequently visited place in summer. At the redecorated bridges slides have been installed which are especially popular with the youngest amateurs of swimming. For the slightly less childish beach volleyball grounds have been prepared. The grounds are regularly sites of tournaments with much sought-after prizes.


Do you know that: Each summer Ostróda holds open Grand Prix in Beach Volleyball.

The sightseeing viewing point


The viewing point is at the top of the Evangelic church at 22 Sienkiewicza Street. From the viewing terrace you can see a beautiful panorama of the whole Ostróda. While climbing to the top you would have to conquer 105 steps of the stairway and admire the mechanism of still operating tower clock as well as the three great bells, of which the largest measures 148cm in diameter.

From the top of the church tower the bugle-call of Ostróda is played.


The New Old Town


At Czarnieckiego Street there is a centre with architecture stylised for historic tenement houses. This attractive complex, connected with the nearby park, houses offices, shops, trading and service places and a bank.

Do you know that: The new old town was opened in 2002.

The Castle and Museum in Ostróda


In the castle of Ostróda you can see most of all the gallery and the museum. There is a painting of Marie-Nicolas Ponce-Camus „Napoleon renders grace to the inhabitants of Ostróda”, Napoleon’s letter and a medal „Napoleon in Ostróda”.


Do you know that: Napoleon was governing his Europe from the castle in Ostróda who stayed here during his campaign in 1806-1807.
